Treat the Cup and Lid as One Service System
Disposable coffee cups with lids should be ordered as a matched service system. A lid that looks close in size may not seat correctly on the rim, and a poor fit can affect drinking comfort, carrying and service speed. The current range uses a clear split: the 6oz cup has an 80mm top diameter, while the 8oz, 12oz and 16oz cups use a 90mm rim.
Black and white lids are available in both diameters. Colour can be selected around the cup design or café presentation, but fit should always take priority. A sipper lid helps customers drink without removing the closure; it should still be tested with the filled cup rather than described as completely spill-proof.
Standardise Cup Sizes Around the Menu
6oz / 180ml
The 6oz white single wall cup is the smallest option in the range and uses an 80mm lid. It may suit shorter hot drinks, tasting serves, small tea portions or event sampling. The menu name attached to a 6oz serve varies between cafés and coffee shops, so the cup should be checked against the actual recipe rather than assigned to one drink automatically.
8oz / 250ml
The 8oz range includes white and black single wall coffee cups, kraft double wall coffee cups and white aqueous-coated single wall cups. All current 8oz options use a 90mm top diameter. This size can cover many regular café hot drinks, but the final beverage volume must allow space below the lid and room for milk foam or toppings where required.
12oz / 350ml
The 12oz range follows the same four main options as 8oz: white single wall coffee cups, black single wall cups, kraft double wall coffee cups and aqueous-coated white cups. These takeaway coffee cups also use 90mm lids. A 12oz format may suit larger beverages, but recipes and serving standards differ, so the cup should be tested with the complete drink.
16oz / 500ml
The largest coffee cup size in the current range is 16oz / 500ml. White and black single wall, kraft double wall and aqueous-coated white versions are available, all with a 90mm rim. Larger cups hold more hot liquid and place more weight on the base, side wall and lid connection, so carrying, cup-holder fit and customer handling should be included in testing.
Choose Wall Construction Around Service Conditions
White and Black Single Wall Coffee Cups
Single wall coffee cups use one main paper wall with a beverage-resistant inner coating. These disposable paper coffee cups provide a straightforward stock option in white or black across selected sizes and are supplied in cartons of 1,000 units. The surface colour affects style and presentation, while heat transfer to the hands depends on the drink temperature, cup construction and holding time.
For very hot drinks or longer carrying periods, assess whether the chosen single wall cup provides enough hand comfort for the service. A sleeve or another cup construction may be more suitable where a more comfortable grip is required. Do not assume that every drink, temperature or holding time will perform in the same way.
Kraft Double Wall Coffee Cups
The kraft double wall coffee cups are available in 8oz, 12oz and 16oz cartons of 500 units. The additional paper wall can provide more insulation between the hot beverage and the customer’s hand than a comparable single wall cup, while the kraft exterior creates a distinct style for cafés, events and takeaway service.
Double wall construction should not be treated as a guarantee that a drink will remain hot for a fixed period. Beverage temperature, ambient conditions, lid use and the time between preparation and consumption all affect the result.
Aqueous-Coated Single Wall Cups
Selected 8oz, 12oz and 16oz white single wall cups use a water-based aqueous coating rather than the PE coating listed on the standard white, black and kraft cup ranges. These products are supplied in cartons of 1,000 units and use the same 90mm lid size as the other cups in those capacities.
Individual aqueous cup product information describes the coating as plastic-free and the cup as compostable and recyclable. Those claims should remain specific to the aqueous product range. A paper appearance or the use of selected recyclable materials does not make every coffee cup suitable for every recycling program, and actual disposal depends on drink contamination, local collection rules and available facilities.
The 80mm and 90mm Lid Split
The simplest way to prevent ordering errors is to organise cups and lids by rim diameter rather than by colour alone. The 6oz cup requires an 80mm lid. The 8oz, 12oz and 16oz cups in the current range require a 90mm lid.
Both lid sizes are supplied in black and white cartons of 1,000 units. Keep the diameters clearly separated in storage and label the shelf or carton position so staff do not mix them during busy service.
Test the Finished Drink, Not the Empty Cup
An empty cup cannot show whether the final hot drink service will be comfortable and practical. Test the actual beverage temperature, fill level, foam, lid placement and carrying time. The correct headspace helps the lid close securely without contacting the drink surface, while an overfilled cup can make fitting and handling more difficult.
- Prepare the drink using the normal recipe and serving temperature.
- Check the fill level below the cup rim and leave practical headspace.
- Fit the correct 80mm or 90mm lid evenly around the entire rim.
- Test sipping, carrying, tilting and placement in the intended cup holder or tray.
- Assess hand comfort over the normal takeaway period.
- Repeat the test with different staff members to confirm consistent lid application.
Set Up the Coffee Shop or Service Station
The way paper cups and lids are stored can affect service as much as the product choice. Group each cup with its matching lid diameter, keep open sleeves protected from dust and moisture, and place the most frequently used size within easy reach. Avoid stacking mixed lid sizes together, as black or white colour alone does not identify the correct fit.
Single wall and aqueous cups are generally supplied in cartons of 1,000 units, while the kraft double wall cups are supplied in cartons of 500 units. Forecast cups and lids separately because customer requests, dine-in service and staff errors can cause the two stock levels to move at different rates.

- Ordering 90mm lids for the 6oz cup.
