Custom Jewellery & Accessories Boxes
Jewellery and accessories packaging carries more of the perceived value of the product than almost any other retail category. A diamond ring is valuable regardless of its packaging – but a diamond ring presented in a premium, precisely fitted box communicates that value completely, while the same ring in a generic box creates a disconnect between the product’s quality and its presentation. The packaging isn’t separate from the jewellery experience; it’s the frame that determines how the jewellery is first seen, first felt, and first given.
This value relationship is most visible in the gifting context, which dominates this category. Jewellery is gifted for proposals, anniversaries, birthdays, graduations, and significant life moments. The box is part of the occasion – it’s seen, touched, and often kept long after the jewellery is being worn daily. For watches, the case is sometimes kept indefinitely as a display and storage item. For sunglasses, the case is a daily carry item that represents the brand at every use.
The category also spans an enormous range – from a $15 fashion ring in a simple folding carton to a $50,000 diamond in a custom-crafted rigid box. The packaging specification needs to be appropriate to the product’s price point and positioning at every level of this range.

Jewellery & Accessories Categories We Package
We manufacture custom packaging across the full range of jewellery and accessories formats. Each category has its own dedicated page with detailed product-specific information.
Jewellery Boxes
Custom packaging for rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, and jewellery collections. Jewellery packaging is the most occasion-driven retail packaging format in the consumer market – proposals, anniversaries, and significant gifting moments all create a specific expectation for the packaging quality and presentation. The box is part of the memory of the occasion.
Watch Boxes
Custom packaging for watches and timepieces across all price points. Watch packaging has its own distinct requirements – watches are heavier and more dimensional than most jewellery, they’re frequently kept in their box for ongoing storage, and the packaging needs to communicate the precision and quality of the timepiece inside. For premium and luxury watches, the case is as much a part of the product as the watch itself.
Sunglasses Boxes
Custom packaging for sunglasses, optical frames, and eyewear accessories. Sunglasses packaging sits at the intersection of fashion and function – the case is a daily carry item that accompanies the glasses wherever they go. The packaging communicates the brand’s fashion credentials and protects the lenses from damage. For premium eyewear brands, the case quality is a direct signal of the frames’ quality.
Choosing the Right Jewellery & Accessories Box Configuration
The occasion determines the packaging quality expectation. A piece of jewellery purchased as an engagement ring has a packaging quality expectation that’s different from the same style ring purchased as everyday fashion jewellery. An anniversary gift watch has a different expectation than a watch purchased for personal daily use. The packaging should be specified for the primary purchase occasion of the product – which for most jewellery and accessories is gifting of some significance. For fashion accessories at the lower price point, a more modest specification is appropriate; for anything associated with a significant life occasion, the packaging quality needs to match the emotional weight of the moment.
Insert material and surface affect product safety. Jewellery is scratched by contact with hard surfaces and by movement within a loosely fitted insert. The insert material needs to be soft enough not to scratch the metal or stone surface of the product – velvet, suede, foam, and satin are all common materials for jewellery insert surfaces because they hold the product without scratching it. The fit of the insert around the product matters too – a ring that moves within an oversized insert will contact the insert material repeatedly during handling, which can cause surface marking over time. The insert should hold each piece firmly enough to prevent movement without applying pressure that could damage delicate settings.
Ring boxes vs necklace boxes vs bracelet boxes have completely different configurations. A ring box is tall and narrow, with a split insert that holds the ring shank. A necklace box is shallow and wide, with a flat insert and a hook or pad that the chain drapes over. A bracelet box is wider still, with a cushioned cylindrical or flat insert that holds the bracelet open. These are not interchangeable formats – using the wrong box type for a jewellery piece produces a poor presentation and inadequate product security. The box configuration needs to match the specific jewellery type.
Watch box construction needs to support significant weight. A watch is considerably heavier than most jewellery – a quality mechanical watch in its case can weigh 500 grams or more. The box base needs to support this weight reliably, and the insert needs to hold the watch in a stable position without the watch being able to rock on its case back within the insert. Watch inserts typically use a cushion or formed insert that holds the watch at the case middle, with enough clearance that the case back doesn’t contact the insert base.
Jewellery & Accessories-Specific Considerations
The packaging is part of the proposal and gifting ritual. For engagement rings in particular, the box is a ritual object – the act of presenting the box, opening it, and seeing the ring inside is one of the most emotionally significant consumer experiences in any product category. The box needs to be designed for this moment: it should open smoothly and cleanly, the ring should be presented at the optimal angle when the box is opened, and the overall impression should be worthy of the occasion. A proposal with a poorly designed, cheaply made box diminishes the moment in a way that’s difficult to compensate for.
Jewellery packaging is frequently kept. Many consumers keep jewellery boxes long after the occasion – as storage for the piece, as a keepsake of the occasion, or simply because the box is too nice to discard. This creates a brand exposure that continues indefinitely beyond the point of purchase. A jewellery brand whose boxes are kept and displayed communicates ongoing brand presence in the consumer’s home. For premium jewellery brands, designing packaging that’s worth keeping is a deliberate brand strategy.
DTC jewellery brands have transformed packaging expectations. The growth of Australian DTC jewellery brands – selling directly to consumers through Instagram, their own websites, and online marketplaces – has created a category of jewellery brands where the packaging is a primary marketing asset. These brands compete with established jewellers without the physical presence of a retail store, and the packaging is the primary physical brand touchpoint the consumer receives. Unboxing content for jewellery is among the most engaged content in the fashion and accessories category, and the packaging quality directly affects how the brand is represented in that content.
Independent jewellery designer packaging is a brand identity statement. For independent jewellery designers and small-batch producers, the packaging communicates the designer’s aesthetic sensibility and brand values as clearly as the jewellery itself. A jewellery designer whose work is minimal and considered needs packaging that reflects those values. A designer whose work is bold and characterful needs packaging with corresponding energy. The packaging should feel like it was made by the same person who made the jewellery.
Repair and return packaging. Jewellery businesses often need to send pieces back to customers after repair, resizing, or cleaning – situations where the packaging needs to protect the piece through postal delivery. The primary jewellery box may not be appropriate for postal delivery in all cases. For jewellery businesses with a significant repair and return component, having a postal-grade packaging format that’s also brand-consistent is a practical consideration.
Sunglasses cases are daily use items. Unlike most other accessories packaging, a sunglasses case accompanies the glasses every day – it’s in a bag, a car, a pocket. This daily use means the case material needs to handle repeated opening, closing, and the general wear of being carried. Soft cases, rigid cases, and semi-rigid cases all have different durability profiles. For premium eyewear brands, the quality of the case communicates the quality of the frames at every daily interaction – a case that wears poorly reflects on the frames it carries.
Print & Finishing for Jewellery & Accessories Boxes
Jewellery and accessories packaging has some of the most consistent premium finish expectations of any retail category – the occasion-driven nature of the category creates an expectation for quality that applies broadly across price points.
Premium jewellery packaging uses a restrained, precise aesthetic that communicates the quality and value of the product. Dark base stocks – black, deep navy, rich burgundy – with gold or silver foil stamp on the brand name or mark are the most common combination. The contrast between a dark matte or soft-touch exterior and metallic foil detail communicates luxury with a restraint that matches the occasion. Ribbon closures, velvet-lined interiors, and custom-shaped inserts complete the premium presentation.
Independent designer jewellery packaging has more room for creative expression – the packaging can reflect the specific aesthetic of the designer’s work. A designer whose jewellery references nature might use botanical illustration on kraft stock; a designer with a geometric, minimal aesthetic might use a clean white box with a single embossed mark. The packaging should feel specific to the designer, not generic to the jewellery category.
Watch packaging communicates precision, craft, and quality through materials and construction. Heavy board weight, tight construction tolerances, and a finish that reflects the engineering quality of the timepiece are appropriate. For premium watches, the box is often as much a display item as a packaging format – designed to sit on a surface and present the watch when not being worn.
Sunglasses packaging sits in a fashion context, and the design should reflect the brand’s fashion positioning. A luxury eyewear brand needs packaging that communicates fashion credibility; a sport or active eyewear brand needs packaging that communicates performance and durability. The case design is a fashion accessory in its own right, and it should be treated as such in the design brief.
All boxes are printed using full colour printing in CMYK. Files should be supplied as Adobe Illustrator (.ai) or high-resolution print-ready PDF, with fonts outlined and graphics embedded. Free design support is included – we’ll produce a free 3D mockup for your approval before production begins, and handle minor artwork adjustments at no extra charge. Free dieline templates are available if you’re building your artwork from scratch.
