Custom Vitamin Boxes
Vitamins are the most universally purchased supplement category in Australia. A majority of Australian adults take some form of vitamin supplement regularly, and the category spans every demographic – from children’s multivitamins to prenatal vitamins to senior formulations to performance-oriented single vitamins for specific health goals. The breadth of the consumer base and the familiarity of the product category creates a packaging challenge that’s different from most other supplement formats: vitamins are often perceived as commodities, and standing out in a category where consumers think they already know what the product is requires a packaging approach that communicates differentiated quality convincingly.
The regulatory framework for vitamins in Australia is well established. Most vitamin supplements carry AUST L numbers as TGA-listed medicines, with permitted indications that are specific to the vitamin form and dose. The labelling requirements are detailed and mandatory. But within those requirements, there is significant commercial room for brand differentiation – and in a category as competitive as vitamins, the brands that invest in packaging quality and design consistently outperform those that treat packaging as a commodity alongside the product.
Our custom vitamin boxes are manufactured to suit the specific vitamin format, regulatory requirements, and brand positioning of your vitamin business. We’ve been supplying vitamin and supplement packaging to Australian businesses since 2017.

Vitamin Box Styles We Offer
We manufacture custom vitamin boxes across a range of formats to suit different vitamin products and market positions. All styles are available in custom sizes, materials, and finishes.
Multivitamin Boxes
The most widely purchased vitamin format in Australia – a formulation combining multiple vitamins and minerals in a single daily dose. Multivitamin packaging needs to communicate the breadth of the formula, the target demographic, and the quality of the ingredients in a format that differentiates from the large number of competing products in the same category.
Available in sizes to suit standard bottle formats from 30-tablet through to 120-tablet and larger. For multivitamin ranges with multiple life stage variants – children’s, adult, senior, prenatal, men’s, women’s – a consistent design system across the range communicates brand coherence while allowing the individual variant to be identified clearly.
Single Vitamin Boxes
A format for single-vitamin supplements – Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, Vitamin E, and other individual vitamins sold for specific health purposes. Single vitamin packaging has a more focused brief than multivitamin packaging – the specific vitamin is the primary communication, alongside the dose, the form, and any relevant health benefit within the permitted indications.
For premium single vitamin brands, the packaging can communicate the specific quality attributes of the formula – the vitamin form (methylcobalamin rather than cyanocobalamin for B12, for example), the dose level, the absence of specific excipients – that differentiate the product from standard alternatives.
Children’s Vitamin Boxes
A format specifically for children’s vitamins – gummy, chewable, or liquid formats designed for paediatric use. Children’s vitamin packaging has a dual audience: the child who will consume the product, and the parent who purchases it. The design needs to appeal to children in a way that makes the supplement experience positive, while communicating to parents the clinical credibility, safety, and nutritional appropriateness of the product.
Children’s vitamin packaging also has specific safety considerations – the packaging must not be so appealing to children that they attempt to access the product unsupervised. Child-resistant closures are often required for vitamin products in quantities above a specific threshold, and the packaging design must not undermine the effectiveness of any child-resistant features.
Prenatal and Pregnancy Vitamin Boxes
A format for prenatal vitamins and pregnancy support supplements – one of the highest-trust segments in the vitamin category. A consumer purchasing a prenatal vitamin is making a health decision that affects both themselves and their developing child, and the trust stake in the product is correspondingly high. The packaging needs to communicate clinical credibility, ingredient quality, and safety with a level of care that matches the significance of the purchase.
Available with design treatments that communicate both the clinical formulation standards and the warmth appropriate to the pregnancy context. For prenatal vitamin brands competing in pharmacy, the packaging quality needs to match the price premium typically commanded by quality prenatal formulations.
B Complex and Therapeutic Vitamin Boxes
A format for high-dose therapeutic vitamin formulations – B complex supplements, high-dose Vitamin D, megadose Vitamin C, and other vitamins used in therapeutic rather than maintenance doses. Therapeutic vitamin packaging needs to communicate the specific clinical application of the product more directly than a general wellness supplement – the target condition or deficiency, the evidence base for the dose, and the relationship between the formulation and clinical recommendations.
Choosing the Right Vitamin Box Configuration
The vitamin’s AUST L status and permitted indications determine the claims on the packaging. Most vitamin supplements in Australia are TGA-listed medicines with AUST L numbers, and the claims made on the packaging must be within the permitted indications for the specific vitamin form and dose level listed in the product’s AUST L registration. The permitted indications for vitamins are well established – they reference maintenance of health, correction of nutritional deficiencies, and support for specific physiological processes – but they do not extend to therapeutic claims about treating or curing named conditions. The packaging claim should be reviewed against the product’s AUST L permitted indications before the artwork is finalised.
Vitamin form affects the permitted claims and the quality communication. Many vitamins exist in multiple chemical forms with different bioavailability profiles. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is more bioavailable than Vitamin D2 (ergocalciferol). Methylcobalamin is a more active form of B12 than cyanocobalamin. Magnesium glycinate has higher bioavailability than magnesium oxide. For premium vitamin brands using higher-quality forms, specifying the exact vitamin form on the packaging is both a compliance requirement (the AUST L registration specifies the ingredient form) and a commercial differentiator for the informed consumer who understands these distinctions.
Life stage targeting requires clear segmentation across a product range. Vitamin brands with multiple life stage variants – children’s, adult, pregnancy, men’s, women’s, 50+, senior – need a packaging design system that clearly differentiates each variant while maintaining brand identity across the range. A consumer who picks up the wrong variant – a senior formulation rather than a prenatal formulation, for example – may receive an inappropriate product. The variant identification system needs to be clear enough to prevent this error at the pharmacy shelf, where multiple variants may be displayed together.
Dose and form communication is a primary purchasing factor for informed consumers. Vitamin consumers range from uninformed buyers selecting the cheapest option to highly informed consumers who know exactly which vitamin form and dose they want. For the latter group – a growing proportion of the premium vitamin market – packaging that specifies the exact vitamin form, the dose per serve, the number of serves, and the presence or absence of specific excipients provides the information they need to make a confident purchase. This information should be on the front or side panel where it’s accessible without opening the box.
Vitamin-Specific Considerations
The commodity perception challenge is the primary commercial obstacle for vitamin brands. Most consumers believe they know what Vitamin C is, and they believe that Vitamin C is Vitamin C regardless of the brand. This commodity perception is the primary commercial challenge for vitamin brands that have invested in genuinely superior formulations – more bioavailable forms, higher doses, better excipient profiles. The packaging is the primary vehicle for communicating why this vitamin is worth paying more for than a generic alternative. For premium vitamin brands, the packaging brief needs to address the commodity perception directly – communicating specific, verifiable quality attributes that justify the price premium.
Fat-soluble vitamins have specific storage requirements that must be communicated. Vitamins A, D, E, and K are fat-soluble and have storage requirements that differ from water-soluble vitamins. Fat-soluble vitamins can accumulate in the body and carry a risk of toxicity at very high doses – which means the dosage and safety information on the packaging is more critical than for water-soluble vitamins where excess is typically excreted. Storage conditions – cool, dry, away from light – must be clearly stated. For high-dose fat-soluble vitamin products, the safety information is a regulatory requirement and a consumer safety matter.
Children’s vitamin packaging has specific design constraints. A children’s gummy vitamin that looks like candy creates an obvious risk if the packaging is accessible to the child outside of supervised use. The design of children’s vitamin packaging should be appealing enough to make the supplement experience positive for the child, but not so visually compelling that it creates an independent desire to access the product. Child-resistant packaging features should be preserved in the design – closures that are child-resistant must not be made less effective by packaging that makes them easier for a child to manipulate.
Prenatal vitamins carry the highest trust stakes in the category. A woman taking a prenatal vitamin is relying on the product to support her health and the development of her child throughout the pregnancy. The trust stake in the accuracy of the product’s formulation, the quality of the ingredients, and the reliability of the dose is higher than for almost any other vitamin product. For prenatal vitamin brands, every element of the packaging – the claims, the ingredient disclosure, the quality certifications, and the overall presentation – should be reviewed to ensure it communicates clinical credibility and reliability accurately.
The premium vitamin market rewards ingredient transparency. Informed vitamin consumers are attentive to excipients as well as active ingredients – they prefer vitamins without artificial colours, flavours, or unnecessary fillers, and they look for these absences on the packaging. For premium vitamin brands that have invested in clean formulations, communicating the absence of specific ingredients – no artificial colours, no preservatives, no common allergens, no fillers – is a commercial differentiator. The packaging should communicate these attributes prominently, not bury them in the fine print.
Print & Finishing for Vitamin Boxes
Vitamin packaging spans a wide visual range – from mass-market pharmacy products designed for shelf impact to premium wellness vitamins positioned as quality health investments.
Mass-market vitamin packaging competes in the most visually dense retail environment in the health category – a pharmacy shelf where dozens of vitamin products are displayed together. Shelf legibility, clear variant identification, and strong brand recognition at distance are the primary design priorities. Full colour printing on a gloss or semi-gloss base stock is standard, with the design prioritising speed of comprehension over aesthetic refinement.
Premium vitamin packaging has moved toward the clean, considered aesthetic of premium wellness products. Matte laminate, quality typography, ingredient-forward front panel communication, and a design that communicates premium positioning through restraint and precision are all appropriate. For vitamins sold at a significant price premium over pharmacy generics, the packaging finish should match the price point and communicate the quality investment the consumer is making.
Children’s vitamin packaging uses age-appropriate illustration and warm, playful colour palettes that make the supplement experience positive for children while communicating clearly to the parent. The design should feel fun and accessible without compromising the safety communication or child-resistant packaging features.
Prenatal and pregnancy vitamin packaging uses a softer, warmer design register – gentle colour palettes, imagery that references pregnancy and new life, and a design tone that communicates care and clinical reliability simultaneously. The packaging should feel as trusted as the healthcare professionals who recommend the product.
All boxes are printed using full colour printing in CMYK. Files should be supplied as Adobe Illustrator (.ai) or high-resolution print-ready PDF, with fonts outlined and graphics embedded. Free design support is included – we’ll produce a free 3D mockup for your approval before production begins, and handle minor artwork adjustments at no extra charge. Free dieline templates are available if you’re building your artwork from scratch.
